Anna Kuen (b. 1991, Bavaria) is a Berlin-based artist whose interdisciplinary practice spans painting, drawing, instalation, and sound. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, where she studied under Daniel Richter (2012-2019), Kuen has developed a singular visual language grounded in abstraction, spatial dynamics, and poetic tension. Her works often emerge from textual fragments-memories, phrases, or associative residues-that unfold into layered compositions. By integrating sonic and visual elements, she explores the thresholds between image, gesture, and atmosphere, establishing herself as a resonant voice in the expanded field of contemporary painting.
By combining all three worlds, her press presence has grown substantially throughout her career. She has been featured in numerous stories and editorials, including pieces in Numéro Berlin, Achtung Mode, ZEITmagazin, and many more - cementing her position as a multidisciplinary voice increasingly recognized across the cultural landscape.

25-09‘Series Painter’ Berlin Art Week
TOR140
Torstraße 140

Exhibtion produced by MUTTER
Anna Kuen presented her solo exhibtion “Series Painter” at TOR140 on the occasion of Berlin Art Week 2025.
“Series Painter” brought together Anna’s multidisciplinary practice, examining the interplay of heritage, perception, and landscape through both canvas and porcelain. The exhibition traced her methodical approach: fragmentary words, tonal sketches, and layered mark-making created works that negotiated memory, identity, and spatial experience. Her porcelain series, developed during a residency at Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (@kpmberlin), engaged with Bauhaus tradition while extending her painterly vocabulary.
Next to her artistic practice, Anna also works as a full-time model and DJ, bringing her distinctive visual sensibility and sense of rhythm into both worlds. Her bookings span runway, editorial, and event performances for global luxury houses such as Dior, Cartier, Chanel, Prada, and Bvlgari, among many others—positioning her as a multifaceted creative voice at the intersection of fashion, art, and music.

25-09KPM Residency
“In the master painting studio at KPM, I was able to experience how the precision of craftsmanship and my own artistic handwriting merge into a new dialogue on porcelain.” With these words, artist Anna Kuen describes her Artist in Residence at the master painting department of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin.
In dialogue with the historic Urbino series—designed in 1931 by Bauhaus artist Trude Petri—she translated her painterly visual language onto a medium defined by formal rigor and a long, storied tradition.
The resulting porcelain works mark a significant step into previously unexplored territory: an expansion of her ongoing exploration of surface and gesture, while simultaneously respecting the inherent logic of the material.
In the charged encounter between painterly intervention and ceramic tradition, Kuen’s overarching interest in form, surface, and serial variation becomes all the more concentrated.
